The site spans 100 private acres, featuring multiple campsites, hiking trails, and notable rock formations, all steeped in a rich historical context. At the foot of the cliff, guests can find eleven mineral springs, each boasting unique mineral waters believed to possess healing properties. Indigenous peoples historically recognized the therapeutic benefits of these springs, making them a focal point for wellness and health treatments.

The natural environment at Tar Springs provides a variety of outdoor activities for visitors. The on-site lake is well-regarded for fishing, with ample opportunities to catch various local fish species. Boating is also a favored pastime, as the calm waters are conducive for leisurely outings in kayaks, canoes, or rowboats.
